A few words about Dr.
V. Ramakrishna.......
'KUCHIPUDI' Dr. V Ramakrishna
working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Dance at RGUKT AP IIIT. He
is a freelance Kuchipudi performer, teacher and choreographer with 20 years of
great experience in the dance field. He
was born in Kazipet, Warangal. His father Shri
V Lakshmi Iylaiah garu, was very encouraging in every aspect of his life.
His Mother Smt. Yadalakshmi Devi garu,
influenced his life a lot. The ideologies the discipline he follows are the
brain child of his mother. He made his virgin debut from a tender age in
Kuchipudi Dance under watchful eyes of Sri Harishankar garu.
Dr. Ramakrishna began
to perform as a solo Artist at the age of 9 and since then continued to perform
at various stages at State, National and International venues in India. Dance
had become an integral part of his life. His command over the technique and
Abhinaya is much adorable and applaud able. Dedication and sincerity became the
quaint essence of his successful life. This had made him an outstanding
personality in displaying the facial expressions, body movements and foot work.
His desire towards Kuchipudi made him to complete his
certificate course & Diploma under the guidance of Smt. Kuppa Padmaja garu
from Vidhyaranya Govt. Music & Dance College, Warangal and came out with
Distinction. He simultaneously completed his Bachelor Degree in Commerce (B. Com)
at Kakatiya University Arts and Science College, Hanamkonda, Warangal. After
his bachelor degree he had done MPA-Dance (Masters of Performing Arts)
Kuchipudi at Hyderabad Central University under the guidance of Gurus Prof.
M.S. Siva Raju garu & Prof. Jonnalagadda Anuradha garu and came out with
‘Distinction’ and awarded the prestigious ‘Nataraja
Rama Krishna Sharada Devi Gold-Medal’.
After his Masters he appointed as Lecturer/Trainer in
Kuchipudi Dance at RGUKT IIIT (Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies,
Indian Institute of Information Technology) at B. Tech. level, in the
Department of Dance in the year 2011. He had trained nearly 750 B. Tech.
students Kuchipudi dance (practical as well as theory) for the purpose of
Kuchipudi Minor Degree offered by the University.
He left the job when he took admission into PhD in the
University of Hyderabad and he has been awarded the doctoral degree “Doctor of
Philosophy” on the topic of Perini Dance
and the Title was “Origin and Evolution of Perini Dance Form” under the
guidance of Prof. M. S. Siva Raju, Department of Dance S. N. School of Arts and
Communications, University of Hyderabad in the year 2018.
Since 2000 he had been exclusively performing in prestigious dance festivals throughout
India like; Music and dance festivals, Bhuvaneshwar, Cuttak, Purijagannat,
Varanasi, Gujarath, Haryana, Common Wealth Games 2010 opening ceremony, Delhi,
Tripura, Agarthala, Sri Siddhendra yogi Kuchipudi, Vijayawada, Vizag,
Amaravathi, Guntur, and many more dance festivals conducted by the South zone
cultural center, department of culture, and the temple rituals of Tirupathi,
kaanipakam, purijagannath, srishalam, chitambaram, brihadeshwara temple,
tanjavur, melattur bhagatamela, yadadri, and many more. He rendered
performances at Telangana formation day celebrations, at Warangal, Hyderabad,
and at many other places of importance all over Telangana.
A highly talented,
ignited, gifted and highly applaud able and blissful professional. Who won many
accolades, laurels, Gold medals and innumerable feathers in the cap in countless
classical dance competitions, he
enacted all major male roles in dance ballets such as Vishnu, Krishna, Siva, Daksha, Indra,
Janaka, Karna, Boddist Monk, Haalahala etc, under the eminent gurus like
late Dr. Vempati China Satyam Master garu, Sri Vempati Ravi Shankar garu, Sri.
Vedantam Master garu, Pasumarthi Ramalinga Sastry, Prof. Jonnalagadda Anuradha,
Smt. Manjubhargavi and other exponent Masters in the same field. His devoted
practice and comprehension of the essence of Kuchipudi had made him an
exceptional dancer, teacher and an outstanding choreographer. He continues to
display his dedication towards the Art form and participating in the
choreographies, performances and teaching in Kuchipudi classical art to the
present and the future generations.
He established his dance school, Rama
Krishna Dance Academy Society,
‘School of Kuchipudi Art’, registered under Society registration
No.273/2011, at Kazipet Warangal Telangana, to keep the Indian culture alive
through this dance form. He uses dance as a medium of expression to raise
cultural awareness in the community. He has the unique talent to bring out the
best in all his students.
His best
Choreographies are Gurajaada’s epic – “Putthadi
Bomma Poornamma” “Mahishaasura mardhani” are ballets and Maharaja Sri Swathitirunal’s
compositions, Tyagaraja keerthanas, Tarangams, padams, Thillanas, etc. are the
dance pieces of his fabulous choreographies.

- Yuva Pratibha Puraskar/Young Talent Artist (YTA) Award by South Zone Culture Center (SZCC), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, Tanjavur for the year 2017.
- Yuva Puraskar (Best Kuchipudi Artist) Award (the sum of Rs. 51, 116/-) from Government of Telangana on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day celebrations on 2nd June 2017.
- DDK Graded Artist in Kuchipudi Dance panel, Hyderabad.
- Qualified UGC-NET eligibility for Assistant Professor in Dance.
- Gold Medal in MPA-Dance (Kuchipudi) as he was topper in M. A. Kuchipudi in HCU and received “Nataraja Rama krishna Sharada Devi Gold Medal”by Andhra Pradesh Governor Shri E. S. L. Narasimhan garu on 1st October 2011, XIII Convocation of University of Hyderabad.
- Silver Medal in Inter University South Zone Youth Festival held at Vishweshwarayya Institute of Technology & Science, Bangalore November 2005 received by Karnataka State Governor Mr. T. N. Chaturvedi garu.
- Bronze Medal in Inter University National Youth Festivals held at Kurukshetra University, Haryana January 2006.
- Received Young Artist Award “Prashamsa Patram” by Warangal District Collector Mr. Rahul Bojja on 26th January 2011.
- Performed in the opening ceremony of “XIX COMMON WEALTH GAMES” Delhi 2010 at J.L.N.Stadium, Delhi on 03rd October 2010.
- Performed and received Best Performance Award “Prashamsa Patram” in ‘Kakatiya Utsavalu -Mugimpu Vedukalu’ 21, 22, & 23 December 2012-13 by Warangal District Collector Mr. Kishan garu.
- Received University of Hyderabad Achiever’s Award by Ex. President of India Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam garu on September 2009.
