Amy Kumar started her journey in Kuchipudi in 1999 under the guidance of Sri. S. K Raghavachari until 2001 and later on with Smt. P.B Krishna Bharathi until 2005 at Pallavi Academy of Fine Art, Habsiguda – Hyderabad. She is currently training under Dr. Anupama Kylash (since 2005). She has also trained in Veena (since 2001) from Guru Vidhushi Smt. Padma Rangaswamy and Keyboard from Gurus Shri Prabhakar and Shri Dinakar and completed certificate exams for the same.

She has taken part in a number of Dance Ballets and group performances. Also given a lot of solo performances in an around the country. Currently she is training students in Kuchipudi in an organization started by her in 2006 – Prerana Pratibha (an institute focusing on promoting young talent in the field of music and dance). She is a Doordarshan graded Artiste. She is a well known face in the field of classical dance in the twin cities and has been asked to judge many dance competitions and also choreograph many dance pieces (Classical and Contemporary)


She has won several prizes in All India Dance and music competitions
She has completed her Masters in Biomedical Genetics from Vellore Institute of Technology – Vellore in 2012 and is a Gold Medalist. She is currently working as a research Associate at Dr. Reddys Laboratories, Hyderabad.
