Dr. Sangita Rangala is an exponent and teacher of the Kuchipudi and Odissi styles of classical Indian dance. She received intensive training and completed her rangapravesam under Guru Rathna Kumar, and later trained with Padmabhushan Dr. Vempati Chinna Sathyam and Guru Vempati Ravi Shankar of Chennai. She is an Odissi student of Padmavibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and Guru Sujata Mohapatra.
Sangita received the prestigious Young Artist award from Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha, Chennai. She has performed in the US, Canada, Europe, and India as a soloist and played lead and supporting roles in numerous dance dramas. She has danced for cultural, charitable and educational organizations, appearing in festivals and cultural events from Omaha to Avignon, France. Sangita is committed to using dance as a vehicle for deeper understanding, for realization of the divinity within us all, and for spreading peace, love and joy. She is the founder of Anand Dance.
Sangita is also a physician specializing in emergency medicine and is the medical director of the Edward Hospital Care Center, a clinic for abused children serving northern Illinois.
