A disciple of Padmabhushan Gurus Raja Radha & Kaushalya Reddy, Shallu Jindal is an accomplished Kuchipudi danseuse. She has performed in various famous classical dance festivals nationally & internationally. She is the Co-Chairperson of Jindal Steel and Power Foundation spearheading the CSR initiatives of the conglomerate, and the Vice President of the ‘Flag Foundation of India’. She is also a member on Central Advisory Board on Culture, Government of India and Chairperson of National Bal Bhawan.


She has recently been honored with ‘Women Role Model Award - 2014’ in category of Dance (Indian Classical Dance).

She has recently been honored with ‘Art Karat Award for Excellence’ Art Karat for remarkable contribution in field of Indian Classical Dance - Kuchipudi.

She has also been honored with ‘Indian Woman Power Award’ by Seemapuri Times.

She has been honored with ‘Drishti Puraskar’ by Drishti Art Foundation.

She is the first Kuchipudi danseuse to receive National “Nritya Ratan” Award at Cuttack International Festival by Utkal Yuva Sanskrutik Sangh.

She has been honored with ‘Devdasi National Award’ and ‘Naatyasree’ Title at Devdasi Nrutya Mandir and 6th All India Classical Dance Festival by Nataraj Music & Dance Academy – a member of International Dance Council, UNESCO, respectively.

Ms. Shallu Jindal has also been awarded with Rajeev Gandhi Excellence Award for Best Classical Danseuse.

Ms. Shallu Jindal has been awarded with International Women’s Day award under category of ‘Dance’ (IWD award) by ICUNR (Indian Council for UN Relations).


She was honoured with the - 2nd ‘Aaadhi Aabadi’ Women Achievers Award, 2010- for classical dance.

In 2007, she was awarded with “Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award” for her achievements in the field of Indian Classical Dance ‘Kuchipudi’ and her contributions in the field of art, culture, education & community development.

In 1987 during her graduation, she was awarded with- Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh State Youth Award.

With inspiration to dance and dedication to practice from her early days, Shallu Jindal was initiated into the tradition of Kuchipudi by her Padmabhushan Gurus Raja Radha & Kaushalya Reddy. A meeting with them at the lotus feet of Lord Venkateshwara in Tirupati led her to study, practice and perform the dance form.

Her grace, beauty and riveting performances nationally & internationally over the years have held audiences spellbound.

She has dedicated her life to contribute towards the Ennoblement of the Indian Classical Dance form Kuchipudi globally. Her dream is to open Performing Arts Centres all across the globe and she is planning to start an Academy for Performing & Creative Arts in Angul, Odisha.
