UMA’S Dance career has began at an early age of 5 years under the famous guru Late Sri. Vedantham Jagannatha Sharma . She participated & received the First Prize in various competitions conducted by Navya Ntaka samithi, Jawahar bal bhavan, Andhra balananda sangam & many other organizations.

When late Dr.Sri.Vempati China satyam  established Kuchipudi art academy in Hyderabad she joined the academy as a student & later became a teacher. She received her NatyaVisarada in Kuchipudi dance from Kuchipudi art Academy at Hyderabad runs by smt.Shobha Naidu. She gave more than 200 performance s in India & Abroad (USA, West Indies).Her program was recorded & telecast by the West Indies T.V channel. She was with her guru ShobhaNaidu in USA for 2 months & performed solo items and took part in Various ballets in 1985.

Uma was selected as a panel of artists of classical dance for Doordarshan Kendra at Hyderabad & telecast many times. Uma was on the panel of judges with Late Sri. Vedantham Satyanarayana Sharma , Sri Bhagavathula Sethuram  etc. for many years of Nayva nataka samithi (An Organization in Hyderabad which conducts All India Music & Dance Competitions every year.)

She is a qualified dubbing artist of Telugu film industry of Andhra Pradesh. She received her Diploma in Architecture from Kamala Nehru Polytechnic College in the year 1986.She worked with MrMurali Krishna Builders as an Architect for 10 years. Uma became an Art of Living teacher in 2009 took many courses. She is teacher for Yes+; Happiness Programme, Living Well, Know your child, & Know your teen.

Uma Padmaja is the eldest daughter of Late Sri Illindala Krishna Rao & Smt.Sundari Krishna. Uma is happily married to Sri Kotikalapudi Shiva Kumar in 1991. She is blessed with 2 sons Sri Chandan & Jaya Surya.
